Things You Shouldn't Do the Week Before Your Wedding
The week before the wedding can usually be the most hectic. Here are some things to keep in mind and also to do early to save you some unwanted stress on those precious days before the wedding.
1. STICK WITH WHAT WORKS
You know your face and you know what works best for you. Testing new products or makeup could result in an allergic reaction or breakouts. No bueno for life long photos. The same goes for your hair. A new haircut can take up to a week to get used to. Dying can pose problems as well and the last thing you want to be doing is running in and out of a salon right before the big day worrying over a hair emergency! Save yourself the heart ache and stay true to you. Experiment after the wedding.
2. DON'T GET ANY DEEP FACIAL TREATMENTS
Even if that peel says the effects should wear off in a few days, don't risk it. Avoid a potential skincare disaster and steer clear of any facial treatments atleast a week before the big day. You want your skin glowing for pictures.
3. DON'T RISK A SMUDGE, GET YOUR NAILS DONE EARLY
There's nothing more frustrating than looking at a smudged nail, so have a relaxing trip to the nail salon with your girls earlier in the week. Or there's always gel!
4. DON'T INDULDGE IN CONTACT SPORTS (GROOMS THIS GOES FOR YOU TOO)
Three of the things that were definitely not invited to the party: Cuts, scrapes and bruises. Avoid any contact sports or extreme adventures before you say I do. Brunching however is always a good idea! Go to brunch instead. ;)
5. DON'T GO TANNING (NATURAL OR OTHERWISE)
We all know better than to go to a tanning bed, but you also want to avoid a spray tan or self tanner to close to the day to avoid looking like a lobster or an orange. Be sure to wear sunblock if you decide to be out in the sun leading up to the wedding as well. Unsightly tan lines can be a buzz kill. Plus, they will be in every. single. photo.
6. REMEMBER TO EAT A BALANCED DIET
This is not the week to start a new crazy diet or starve yourself. That will only leave you hungry and be more prone to have a short wick with your loved ones. On the other hand you don't want to eat your feelings and stress later on! Just be mindful of what you're putting into your body and be sure to keep healthy snacks on you to get you through the day. This will keep you happy and healthy for your wedding.
7. DON'T BE A LUSH
There's no harm in celebrating and a few sips here and there aren't going to kill you. A good rule of thumb is sticking to one drink to avoid bloating, redness and any unforeseen bad decisions.
8. A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP CAN BE A GAME CHANGER
This is the week to rest up. Your wedding is going to be perfect, but it's also going to be exhausting. Make sure you are getting some good sleep before all the excitement of wedding day.
9. BREAK IN YOUR SHOES EARLY
This is very important and can easily be forgotten until it's too late. Break in your new shoes as early as you can. You want to be comfortable in them and be able to get through the day without aching feet. So do yourself favor and walk around in them as much as you can.
10. DON'T SWEAT THE DETAILS
Trust your vendors. You hired these experts for a reason and they are going above and beyond to take good care of you. All your hard work and planning is going to pay off, with the help of your vendors, so sit back, relax and enjoy all your planning in action.
